TV soap Balika Vadhu’s main actress Avika Gor is working with Shahid in Ahmed Khan’s Paathshala and left the little actress quite impressed with his looks and acting.Avika reveals, “I have worked with Shahid and Ayesha Takia in Paathshala. Shahid is one of my favourite actors. It was my dream to dance with him. While shooting for the film, the dream came true. He is the best. Shahid even used to teach some dance steps to us.” Shahid Kapoor has a cameo role in Paathsala which also starrs Nana Patekar and Ayesha Takia.

Kaveri Jha in Priyadarshan’s ‘Bum Bum Bole’

South actress Kaveri Jha may not have made her presence felt much with her film ‘Hijack’ opposite Shiney Ahuja, but the girl has definitely impressed at least some of the makers. So, Kaveri has been signed for ‘Bum Bum Bole’ directed by Priyadarshan.

The film is an adaptation of the hit Iranian film ‘Children of Heaven’ and has Darsheel Safary in the lead. The film also stars Atul Kulkarni who will play Darsheel’s father and Rituparna Sengupta, who will play his mother. Kaveri has been signed to play the role of Atul’s sister.News has it that the film runs on two parallels, one that deals with Darsheel and his faith in God, while the second is about the relationship between Kaveri and Atul. Priyadarshan is so excited about this project that he has kept his comedy ‘De Dana Dan’ on hold for the time being till this one gets completed.

Preity Zinta gets the best actress award

Preity Zinta is overwhelmed on receiving the best actress award at the Chicago International Film Festival for her performance as the battered Punjabi wife facing domestic violence in Deepa Mehta’s ‘Heaven On Earth’. “I am so happy and excited. It was my director Deepa Mehta who informed me on Saturday afternoon that I had won. I couldn’t go to Chicago, and neither could Deepa. Without any lobbying I’ve done it,” beams Preity. She has other reasons to celebrate too. Her film ‘Heroes’ is doing pretty well on the domestic front. Preity is immensely thankful to Anupam Kher. “I attended his acting school to get my Punjabi right for both the roles. He taught me how to pronounce the words properly. He has been a blessing.” Deepa Mehta expresses her sincere joy on Preity’s success and says, “It’s amazing, isn’t it? I’m so happy for Preity. She’s luminous in ‘Heaven On Earth’…just like Shabana Azmi in ‘Fire’. Coincidentally, Shabana was the other actress to win the Best Actress Award at Chicago. I don’t think any other Indian actress has won this award. I’m happy Preity is getting rave reviews for Heroes. I’ve seen bits of her performance in ‘Heroes’. And in fact it was that performance which reassured me that I had made the right choice for Heaven On Earth.”
