Shilpa Shetty's shoot that never happened

The cinema and television worker's two-day strike this week found an unusual victim in Shilpa Shetty. While other film folks just stayed away for an impromptu holiday when the film industry's workers went on strike, Shilpa Shetty was caught in a peculiar situation.

Coincidentally, she was the only major film star scheduled to shoot for a television programme. Bigg Boss, as it happened to be. It seems all other cine-celebs like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar have gathered their loot and run home from the home medium, leaving the coast clear for Shilpa who has to fly down to Mumbai for the Bigg Boss recording every Friday, no matter which part of the world she is in.
This Friday proved to be a nightmare. Unaware of the workers' strike in the industry she flew from Singapore to Mumbai and drove all the way to Karjat for the shoot, only to be told that she may not be allowed to.
But before Shilpa could backtrack she was assured that a solution was being worked out even as she waited on Friday to record for the reality show.
Finally, Shilpa was not seen by Bigg Boss viewers.
Says the shaken actress. "It was quite a nightmare. I waited the whole day at Karjat for my shoot, and finally left without doing so. That's why I was missing on Friday's episode of Bigg Boss. So many people have been calling and messaging thinking I'm unwell or something's wrong. But I couldn't shoot because of the strike."

Govinda in shelter of Salman Khan?

It is reliably learnt that Govinda after disastrous fate of his recent releases especially 'Money Hai Toh Honey Hai' wants Salman Khan to help him again. A source close to star cum politician reveals "it's true Govinda has requested Salman to do one more Partner for him. Govinda's all films after 'Partner' had similar fate at the box-office and he is also not excited with the line-up of films he has in store. Although, Salman has roped Govinda in cameo for 'Mr and Mrs. Khanna' he has also asked his writers to find a suitable script which will have the two together again”

Chinese TV to air Bruce Lee biography

Beijing (AP): Bruce Lee is getting a belated hero's welcome in China, with the country's state broadcaster set to air a 50-part prime-time series on the late kung fu star.

Lee became a chest-thumping source of nationalistic pride to Chinese around the world with his characters who defended the Chinese against oppressors in a series of movies in the early 1970s.

But his influence wasn't felt immediately in China, which was then a closed Communist country. Lee's films started surfacing in China on video in the 1980s _ years after his death in 1973 from swelling of the brain.

China's official China Central Television hopes to fill the void with the exhaustive 50 million Chinese yuan (US$7.3 million) biography, ``The Legend of Bruce Lee'' _ the country's first movie or TV series on the actor, according to producer Yu Shengli.

Shot in China, Hong Kong, Macau, the U.S., Italy and Thailand over nine months, the series, starting on Sunday in prime-time, will air daily on the CCTV's flagship channel, with two episodes airing consecutively every night in a two-hour slot.

Unlike past films about Lee, ``The Legend of Bruce Lee'' is unusually detailed in tracing Lee's life, from his teenage years in Hong Kong to his move to the U.S., where he studied and taught martial arts, to his movie career and early death at 32, the Hong Kong actor who plays Lee told AP in an interview on Tuesday.

Rani pays a heavy price for love

There was a time when Rani Mukherjee was considered the unchallenged queen, the numero uno actress in B-Town. But not anymore!

Just three/ four years back she was hot property with hits like Hum Tum, Veer Zara, Bunty aur Babli and a critically acclaimed performance in Black. But the back to back flops Baabul, Ta Ra Rum Pum, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Saawariya and Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic changed it all.

Since then Rani has only made news for all the wrong reasons. She's been accused of being a home breaker and the 'we're together, we're not together' status with reclusive beau Aditya Chopra hasn't helped her career or her personal life.

Even the brands which signed her on when she was hot property are losing interest in her. First it was said that the people concerned didn't want her back for the 'Nestle Munch' campaign and now the buzz is that she has been dropped from the prestigious 'Titan' watches ad campaign.

Rani was the face of the 'Titan Raga' brand for two years but reportedly now they've told her that she's is no longer needed as the re-launch phase for the watch is over. Sources say that the decision was taken considering Rani's market saleability. After much contemplation, the company thought of doing away with the association. It's another blow for the actress who is already trying hard to survive in the number game.

Looks like people are not wrong in saying that the actress who was once named 'the most versatile actress of this generation' made a mistake by confining herself to the Chopra camp!

Akshay’s Italian Eid surpriseby Times News Network

In the land of Michelangelo and Leonardo Di Vinci, Akshay Kumar has managed to paint a pretty picture with his generosity! Currently shooting in Italy for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakht Ishq, Akshay became sentimental and dildaar on the occasion of Eid, and decided to treat the entire film unit to a sumptuous meal.
Based in a small village, Vicenza, 200 km east of Milan and 60 km west of Venice, the cast and crew is away from good network areas, computers… and is enjoying the simple life. “It’s beautiful here,” informs Amrita Arora, who is also a part of the film. “The sun is out, but it’s still freezing cold! We, of course, miss family when we are away, and especially when there are festivals to be celebrated. Arbaaz bhai and Malaika must’ve celebrated Eid in Mumbai, but Akshay made it special for all of us in Italy,” said Amrita.
About where he took the gang… it was a small, little restaurant that Kareena describes as charming. “The ambience was bliss. The restaurant was built like a traditional Italian house serving authentic Italian food, with sonatas playing in the background. It was a quiet dinner, like one would have with family,” the actress said.
Producer Nadiadwala added, “It was a surprise for us. Akshay felt like taking us out on Eid and making the day special and so he did. We feasted on risottos and lobster.” But shouldn’t Sajid have been the host, ideally? “Since the next day was a working day, we thought we’ll push the celebrations to the weekend. So I organised a bash on Saturday, instead. We booked a discotheque for ourselves and partied hard,” informed the filmmaker.
