Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2009

January 18 was the day when the stars of Bollywood decided to give glamour a backseat for their favorite causes. They took to the streets and created awareness about social issues in their own way at the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2009. John Abraham, Arjun Rampal, Vidya Balan, Soha Ali Khan, Rahul Bose, Om Puri, Tina Ambani, Gulshan Grover, Sharmila Tagore- all were seen on the streets under the catchline: Mumbai runs to secure its future.

Arjun Rampal was there to support the participants of the Nina Foundation for spinal cord injury. Vidya Balan was there to cheer the runners from the NGO Nanhi Kali. Former India test team skipper Anil Kumble also decided to take part in the Mumbai Marathon in support of a cause taken up by actor Rahul Bose’s NGO, The Foundation. Besides all these causes, it was terror which topped the marathon agenda.

Milind Soman, a familiar face in the pack, set off for the entire 42-km distance, while others preferred to let their voice do the talking rather than their feet. Actor John Abraham, who participated in the marathon said that it was an excellent display of Mumbai’s spirit and he was proud to be a part of it.

Fall of Enchantment by Kingfisher 2009 Calendar

Alas! With the status of presenting best eye-candies, 2009 Kingfisher Calendar disillusioned its fans this time! L Regrettably the calendar models lacked all the charm and attraction! Thus, all the zeal and zest melted down as the calendar landed on the desk!

Arjun Rampal, bollywood hunk, manifested the occasion of release and introduction of the calendar along with its masterminds and the oh-NOT-so-cute models! Although there seemed to be immense pleasure among the lineup; while posing and smiling for the promotion purposes; yet there was an evident below par rating of looks and underdressed appearance of models!

As the Chairman of Kingfisher briefed up the idea of simplicity and instinctive looks that he executed in his pictures; he stated,” I had briefed the photographer to work in a space that would create such images. The accent was on simplicity and working with natural elements.” Though, the pictures are truly fine-looking art pieces; but the matter of fact is few want to look at the women themselves (as per the idea behind the images).

So the conclusion of the story is our unfulfilled desire of seeing some smoking hot babes that are roped on Kingfisher Calendar must be taken good care of perhaps next year. Amen!

Arjun turns down Daddy role

Arjun Rampal in reality is a doting father to his two young daughters but in reel life he doesn’t want to play father of two kids and that’s the reason he turned down Meghna Gulzar’s next directorial flick.A source says, “Meghna was keen to cast Arjun in a very important role, but Arjun said he did not want to be cast as the father.”Producer Savita confirmed the news, “Arjun did turn down the role. We have two kids in the film aged ten and eight. Arjun did not want to play a father to two kids.”Savita adds, “After Rock On!! maybe he wants to maintain a certain image and we respect that. However we are talking to Arjun for some other films. We would love to have him on board for one of our forthcoming projects.”

Arjun Rampal is on a high these days inspite the debacle of his latest release EMI ‘coz he hit the jackpot this year with Rock On and then gave a hardcore performance in The Last Lear.Arjun says,  “I hope this is not the peak of my career and I go further ahead. I have taken a lot of time to learn. I am thankful to all the people to have given me the opportunity to work many times.”Arjun thanks many people around him who have helped him climb the ladder of success, “I am also thankful to people like Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Farah Khan who have understood me as an actor. I am indebted to my family and the many people who have supported me in this industry. I could not have done this alone.”“It has been a fantastic year for me both personally and professionally. Professionally because I got to do a lot of good films this year and personally because my family was happy as my films worked and also see my children growing and my wife is also very happy. God has been very kind to me.”Well we hope that God continues to shower his kindness on you Arjun.

Happy Birthday Arjun Rampal!

Arjun Rampal turns 37 today. He is just seven years old in the industry and with the success of Rock On and The Last Lear, Arjun has proved that he is not only the most good looking man in Bollywood but also a wonderful actor now.Rampal was discovered by designer Rohit Bal at a discotheque in Delhi and that kick started his modelling career. He was launched by Rajiv Rai in Pyar Ishq Aur Mohabbat in 2001.In the past seven years he has done 22 movies out of which for Rock On and The Last Lear he got critical acclaim for his performances.He’s had a rocking year so far and we wish him the same for the rest of his life.
