Katrina Kaif is dating the man who started the trend of six-packs in Bollywood industry - Salman Khan. She praises all actors today who are following his footsteps and have build great bodies. But she feels that when a woman falls in love its not the packs that she looks for but for kindness and charm.She says, ‘’If I want to be politically correct I can say all our heroes have good bodies today. Everyone looks good because all of them work hard on their bodies. One of the first was Salman. And it is always tough to maintain a good body for so long. Akshay also has one of the finest lean and tough bodies. Aamir has developed a great physique. This is remarkable because it’s tougher to build such a body and maintain it after a certain age. But, frankly, what a girl looks for in a man are not his six-packs, his looks, or his age difference – it’s just his kindness and his charm that win women over.”

A peek at Dabbo Ratnani’s 2009 calendar

New Year calendars with Bollywood celebrities adding glaour and glitter to it are the most awaited part of any oncoming year. Among the most awaited ones is the calendar of Dabboo Ratnani. This time Dabboo has come up with his calendar featuring the brightest Bollywood stars like Akshay Kumar, Kangna Ranaut, Sushmita Sen, Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Kajol, Riteish Deshmukh and Deepika Padukone.

The calendar has Kajol in her ‘bindaas’ self atop a Mumbai taxi in a flaming red dress. Deepika Padukone is an all different look with her warrior queen avatar with a designer sword. Riteish Deshmukh looks awesomely striking with his Beatles-inspired sixties’ black and white look. Sajnay Dutt looks deadly behind the wheels of the gleaming red Ferrari.

Says Dabboo about his work, “I have not restricted myself to any dramatic theme for 2009. Some are in black and white, some are in reds while the rest are in vivid colors,” says Dabboo who begins work on his annual ritual in September every year. “Initially, I used to collect snaps of the stars I had shot and put them together for the calendar. But later, I began shooting them exclusively for it.”

2008 is gone forever and 2009 has crept in with many promising films in store. 2008 was a year of Bollywood relationships going public with Saif-Kareena and Deepika-Ranbir openly admitting that they are in love. 2008 was a year with little hits and much flops. Hope 2009 fights the global recession raining gold at the box-office. Some of the films to be recently released are ‘Bad Luck Govind’, ‘Kaash….Mere Hote’, ‘The President is Coming’ on January 9. On the same date will be coming Rakesh Sarang’ directed ‘Horn Ok Pleassss’ starring Nana Patekar, Rimi Sen and Muzammil Ibrahim.

January 16 will see the release of much awaited ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ starring Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Ranvir Shorey and Mithun Chakraborty’ in lead roles.

‘The Murderer’ and ‘Firaaq’ will be released on January 23 along with ‘Raaz-The Mystery continues’ from Mohit Suri. The film has Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan in the lead roles.

Other films to be released in Januray are ‘Victory’, ‘Luck By Chance’, ‘Mumbai Chakachak’ and ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

Filsm to be released in February are ‘Aloo Chat’, ‘Jugaad’, ‘Billu Barber’ starring SRK, Irrfan Khan and Lara Dutta, ‘Delhi 6’ with Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles, ‘Rang Rasiya’, ‘Fox’ and so on.

With so many filsm in store 2009 definitely seems to be promising!!

How Akshay Kumar Keeps His Wife Happy?

Its one hell of big deal to keep one’s wife happy. And Akshay Kumar has become quite a pro at this.

A few days ago, we read that Akshay Kumar gifted his wife a lavish Bentley car worth 3 crore on her 35th birthday before he left for Hong Kong. And since he was absent on his wife’s birthday he made it up by taking the entire family to Goa.

He hosted a party for his wife, his mom-in-law Dimple Kapadia and his mom Aruna where he cooked them some sumptuous Gujarati delicacies.

It is known that Akshay was inspired by his role of a chef in the film Chandni Chowk to China. For those of you who forgot, Akshay Kumar is an excellent cook. He worked as a waiter in his early twenties in Bankok.

Needless to say, Twinkle was extremely happy!

Apparently he handed the car keys to his wife before he flew off to Hong Kong for Christmas Show. Twinkle was overwhelmed with joy we heard.

Dimple All Praises for Son-In-Law Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar did not share screen space with his mom-in-law but the two got a chance to come together for animated flick Jumbo. Dimple dubbed for the character of Jumbo’s mom where Jumbo was played by Akshay and his son Aarav.

Dimple is obviously thrilled to be a part of the project and she says,“I play the mother of Jumbo in the film. She is extremely protective and caring about her child. It is a very endearing character… It was Akshay who brought the film to me… then I saw the film. I liked it a lot and that is why I agreed to do it. The film is special as it gave the opportunity to play mother to my real life son-in-law.”

And she thinks her voice suited her character because she thinks she sound very much like an elephant. She says, “I feel it has suited well, it should actually. My voice sounds like that of an elephant (Laughs). My voice is quite hoarse.”

She is all praises for her son-in-law Akshay who is one of India’s top and most highly paid actors. “He is fantabulous. He has grown by leaps and bounds over the years. In fact he is growing constantly with each of his films. I adore him a lot as an actor and enjoy watching all his films,” she says proudly.

Aishwarya Rai and Akshay Kumar come Together Again!

We’ve caught it on the grapevine that Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai will be seen again together after a long time. They last starred in multi-starrer Khakee with limited roles. This time they are ready to play a lead role in a film by Vipul Shah.

Apparently Vipul Amrutlal Shah has managed to sign Aishwarya and Akshay for a film which is reportedly inspired from Hollywood film - Robert Zemecki’s Back To The Future.

Its a story about a teenager who goes back in time to meet his parents when they were young. Akshay and Ash are going to play the parents and the teenager’s role was offered to Ranbir Kapoor.

Unfortunately Ranbir didn’t find the role very exciting so he turned it down. Vipul is looking for another young actor to fill in.

The Badshah of Bollywood may not have a great year health-wise. He’s in his 44th year, which adds up to 8, representing Saturn (Shani). Unfortunately, it doesn’t augur well for King Khan as 8 has not worked well for him in the past.

Hrithik Roshan
Hrithik is in his 35th year and will soon be 36. However, 9 is not one of his best numbers. In fact, 9 of Mars can make a person impulsive and accident-prone, so he better watch out instead of playing superhero! A very potent combination rules him, so he should avoid multi-starrers and take up work that has him in the lead. He and his father should make more films together as all their three films were huge hits.

Salman Khan
He is governed by number 9, the fiery Mars (Mangal), the planet of energy, which makes a person impetuous, accident-prone, stubborn and inflexible. His comeback vehicles – Tere Naam and Partner – add up to 9. His girlfriend Katrina’s destiny number is 9. She’s a water sign (Cancerian) and he’s an Earth sign, and these signs usually go well together. So, he should lie low this year as he could be subject to defamation, scandal and false accusations. We’d always maintained that ABCL won’t do well under Big B as his numbers are not conducive to business; however, it stands a better chance under Abhishek.

Katrina Kaif
Katrina is a number 7, ruled by Neptune and the Moon, planets that endow imagination and creativity. She is doubly influenced by these planets as they govern Cancerians. The flipside is they can make her restless and moody. She’s now in her 25th year (7). So, this could be one of her best years.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Earlier this month Katrina Kaif suffered a nose injury thanks to Ranbir Kapoor’s tight slap. Her face swelled and her shooting had to be cancelled. This time she injured her leg while shooting for another flick De Dhana Dhan.

Unit members report that Katrina was doing an underwater sequence with Akshay Kumar when her foot got tangled under water.

“The more she tried to extricate herself the more her leg got tangled. She tried to scream for help, but because of the noise on the sets including the stunt co-ordinators who were shouting instructions to the entire cast, no one heard Katrina’s screams of pain,” a source told IANS.
“Akshay saw that Katrina was in trouble. He quickly swam to her and got her out of the tangle,” said the source.

Katrina’s leg was badly hurt. “It could’ve been worse,” said the source, “but tetanus shots and sedatives have eased her pain.”

When contacted, Katrina tried to downplay the incident saying: “It was nothing. I hurt my leg. There was a cut that hasn’t healed as yet. So I’m in pain.”

Anyway, they may have been my type back then, but now I’m happy with my little Twinkle.

When did it become acceptable for men to have a beauty regimen? Have you ever waxed your chest?

It became acceptable when women became fussy. And what makes you think I wax? Are you mad? It takes a real man to wax. I cheat — I shave.

Katrina Kaif dazzles at Nakshatra event

That Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai lost the deal of jewelry brand Nakshatra to Katrina Kaif a few months back had already been informed to you at our space. And undoubtedly, the decision of the company seemed to be apt as we saw Katrina sizzling and dazzling at the promotional event for Nakshatra.

Katrina Kaif has been tagged as the Goddess of Luck for promotions and brand endorsements in the industry. A firm believer in destiny, Katrina feels anyone can be what he wants to be and destiny plays a major part in it. God has of course been very kind to her, adds the actress. In a recent interview Katrina had also confessed that she is most comfortable in front of 300 people on a set. Otherwise, she is lost, says Katrina.

However, even after replacing Ash, Katrina feels that she is no comparison for the Bachchan Bahu as she has an iconic status. Katrina has a series of projects lined up for the coming year - there’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani , De Dhana Dhan and the soon-to-be-released New York with co-stars Ranbir Kapoor, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham respectively.

Deepika Padukone’s latest film will see her doing some really great stunts with Khiladi Kumar Akshay Kumar. However the leggy lass doesn’t like it when she is compared to any other actress.She says, “I’m different… Don’t compare me with Priyanka Chopra just because she’s done stunts in Drona and I’ve done action sequences in Chandni Chowk to China (CC2C). Each person is unique and so am I. I worked hard for six months to learn those stunts and was specially trained by experts from Hong Kong.I’m glad filmmakers recognise my talent… I will be playing a dual role once again in CC2C, after Om Shanti Om. I’m happy filmmakers find me capable of portraying different roles. It’s given me confidence and satisfaction.Wearing those tight wigs for CC2C was painful… One of the two roles I play in the film is that of a Chinese girl. Which is why it was necessary for me to wear those tight wigs with a fringe. Even my eyes had to be stretched out for the role. It really hurt.I feel fortunate to have worked with some of the top heroes… From Shah Rukh Khan to Akshay Kumar. And now I’m working with Saif for Imtiaz Ali’s next film, after which I will be working with Akshay once again. Akshay is a fantastic guy with many years of experience. Akshay Kumar runs for 'special athletes'

New Delhi, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who hails from the capital, returned to the bylanes of Chandni Chowk Sunday to carry the 'Flame of Hope', the relay torch for the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games.

The torch made its way to New Delhi Sunday, where 150 Special Olympics athletes, law enforcement officers and residents joined Kumar as he carried the torch on a two-km run through Chandni Chowk as part of the Global Law Enforcement Torch Run - a signature event honouring the Special Olympics movement.
Kumar is the celebrity supporter and brand ambassador for the event that is being organised prior to the world games set to be held in Boise, Idaho, US, Feb 2-13 next year.
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit flagged off the event at the Red Fort.
Craig Grossgart, country manager of DHL Express India, and Air Marshall Denzil Keelor were also present.
The Bollywood actor asserted that he wasn't here to promote his upcoming film "Chandni Chowk to China".
"It is just a coincidence that I am here at Chandni Chowk for this event and that the torch will next be taken to Shanghai. I am here to support the event and the athletes," he told mediapersons.
Athlete Achint Babbar was among the special athletes to share stage-space with the star and was overjoyed when Akshay commended him on having won in the swimming category of the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2008.
His mother said: "Achint was happy to meet the star that he normally sees on TV. Seeing a star like this in their support, the athletes will feel motivated."
The Flame of Hope was lit Nov 12 2008 in Athens, Greece, using the rays of the Sun in accordance to Olympic tradition. The flame then left Greece to begin a 60,000-km journey across five continents.
Carried by members of the global law enforcement community and Special Olympics athletes, more than 12,000 people around the world will participate in this pivotal event for the Special Olympics movement delivering hope, inspiration and encouragement to all people with intellectual disabilities.

Akshay teaches son some cool Karate moves

Akshay Kumar lives and loves martial arts and now his son his also going the same way, as Aarav loves Karate.So when Akshay was shooting with some Kung-fu kids for his flick Chandni Chowk to China he also took Aarav to check them out, “I wanted my son to see how good he could be if he trains hard, too. It’s difficult for kids to think they can be as good as adults, but when they see kids their own age doing amazing stuff, it makes them want to be just like them.”Akki revealed that Aarav trains thrice a week for Karate, “He loves it, he is just dying to perform kicks like me! When we train at home, he sometimes get frustrated, but he is learning fast, some of his moves are better than mine,”Finally he says, “Martial arts is in Araav’s blood. Yesterday I was learing karate with my dad, now I’m teaching my own son.”

Pogo Amazing Kids Awards 2008 on ‘Chandani Chowk to China’ roller coaster

It was a complete fun filled roller coaster ride for the winners of the Pogo Amazing Kids Awards 2008 that was held on Saturday night at Vrundavan Studio in Malad, Mumbai. Bollywood’s brightest stars- Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone descended upon the function to promote their film, ‘Chandani Chowk to China’ and to reward the winners of The Pogo Amazing Kids Awards 2008!

Deepika looked stunningly hot in blood red dress with a black patent headband; while Akshay performed an elaborate stage show with children decked up in chock-a-block Chinese gear. Flaunting her voted best body curves- Sexy siren Shilpa Shetty and ever smiling Mahima Chaudhary donning a black and orange mini; along with singing sensation Sonu Nigam also graced the occasion.

The Pogo channel developed by Turner Entertainment Networks Asia (Tena); awarded the kids a certificate for their wonderful achievements along with a benefit policy worth 500,000 rupees! Twenty four children chosen from Delhi, Hyderbad, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Allahbad, Bangalore and Mirzapur across eight categories including music, arts, singing, dance, genius, leadership, sports and entertainment were featured at the award ceremony. This was the fifth season of the show where more than three thousand kids of 6-14 age groups entered the competition!

The impressive panel of judges included- choreographer Ashley Lobo, politician Priya Dutt (Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt’s sister), renowned Bollywood singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan, artist Brinda Miller, actor Vinay Pathak, commentator Charu Sharma, and manipulative genius Shakuntala Devi. Akshay pours his heart out after Mumbai attacks

Akshay Kumar like his many other colleagues has also penned down his thoughts about the Mumbai attacks and what he feels about the whole issue.He writes, The morning of November 27, was the most horrendous day I can remember since I lost my father. The night before I pretended to sleep; now awake, I thought I could have nearly lost my wife, for she was there at the Taj the previous evening. If she had stayed for dinner, I don’t want to know what may have happened to her. Now as I watched her sleep, looking troubled, holding our son close, as I lay next to them, I made up my mind — I was not going to let my family live in fear. Not now, not ever! It’s the 21st century, for God’s sake.How can we still be surrounded by such pain and suffering? There were so many mothers whose sons had been lost to the terrorists’ bullets, and many who had braved them to ensure others were saved. But the biggest victory for any terrorists would be to see us affected. Yes, they wanted to snatch away our smiles, ruin what ‘we’ as a country live and breathe for… that is love and respect. But they cannot damage us, we are a family, a union, but only if we stand together. If you want to fight these terrorist, then fight we shall, but by coming together — not by starting a war.We must learn how to protect ourselves, learn how to fight with our brains not just our machinery. We are loved as a country that is humble, beautiful, and full of culture, we cannot become terrorists ourselves, we are better than that… It’s been a week now and we have all been counting the hours, a lot has been said about the system failing, the authorities failing, and the loss that is beyond repair… But I believe in my people, we can’t fight politicians!We just need to vote intelligently, only ‘We the People’ can save our country, no one else… We need to think like Kiran Bedi. Remember ‘Temper is what gets us into trouble, but pride is what keeps us there.’ Let us calm our thoughts, like my mother always says, ‘Jai mata di, jai mata di.’ Those soldiers have given their lives for us, let it not be in vain. Instead of penning his thoughts on paper and blogs, King of Bollywood Akshay Kumar has found that his skin is the best plaxe to sport a message for the victims of Mumbai Terror attack and all Mumbaiites.

Akshay will sport the tattoo “Everything’s gonna be alright” on his arm, which is a song from his animated movie Jumbo, apparently the entire cast of Jumbo including Dimple Kapadia will be sporting the tattoo.CEO of producing company of Jumbo, Navin Shah says, “When we were filming this song, we never imagined that it would end up being so appropriate in this situation, but anything that makes people feel good is something we would like to do. The lyrics of the song are appropriate considering what’s happened and the low mood in the country today. Led by Akshay Kumar, everybody without exception, has loved the idea and they actually not only live the thought of it, but will physically put the tattoo on their hands.”

Akshay Kumar’s Italian Suit Worth 5 Lakhs

Aishwarya Rai made news when she picked up shades worth 10 Lakh rupees, Asin picked up shoes worth 2 lakhs and now Akshay Kumar has raised a lot of eyebrows when he decided to wear an Italian designer suit worth Rs. 5 lakh for his forthcoming film Kambakht Ishq.

The movie produced by Sajid Nadiadwala has been already declared one of the biggest budget films. It stars Hollywood biggies like Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh Brandon Routh, and Carmen Electra along with apne desi Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor.A source from the film’s crew reported, “Akshay was shooting for his introductory scene in the film. Shabina had sent nearly a dozen suits, each priced at approximately Rs 1.5 lakh. But Akshay didn’t like any suit. There was chaos with everybody wondering how to resolve the problem since Akshay was supposed to shoot for the particular scene in a few hours.”That’s when Akshay and Sabir decided to go shopping. “The scene also has Kareena Kapoor. Kambakkht Ishq also stars a few prominent Hollywood actors. Akshay obviously wanted to look suave so he chose a suit, which was much more expensive than what Sajid had imagined. But Sajid is a magnanimous producer. He and Akshay are quite close. In fact, they went to the same school (Don Bosco, Matunga) where Akshay was one year junior to Sajid,” said our source.A source close to Sajid, confirmed the story and said, “Yes. This did happen. Akshay didn’t wear any of the suits sent by Shabina. But that’s okay. Such things do happen during film shoots. Akshay chose a superb black suit with a hint of blue. It’s a unique piece.”

All good things come for a price… and Akshay Kumar is getting pricey as he gets good.
